Working within a small team at a progressive local mining house, this job will see you working closely with mechanical and process engineers, giving you a broad experience and depth of knowledge. The role will focus initially on commissioning and then will become more maintenance-focused. As a result, your duties will include the installation and maintenance of a Yokogawa Centum CS3000 DCS and several PLC systems; refurbishment of English Electric switchgear and installation of passive fire protection systems; and a review and upgrade of the sites communications systems. The company is focusing on developing new operations and as such, has an enterprising culture that is very much on the forefront of cutting-edge technology. Therefore, it makes sense that they are looking to build a young, industrious team of people with solid experience who are sick of getting lost in the impersonal giant that are today's international mining corporations. To be considered for the position, you need a degree in electrical engineering, and at least six years experience in electrical engineering, obtained in a mining or heavy industry environment. You need to have had extensive experience with control systems (eg ABB, PLCs).
