Job Description:
Our client, a growing Vancouver-based mining company with operations in South America is seeking a Controller. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will join a hands-on supportive team!
The Controller will be responsible for ensuring the company meets quarterly and annual filing deadlines. The successful candidate will also handle variance analysis, assistance in the production of budgets, preparing year-end working papers and liaising with external auditors. In addition, this role will prepare financial statements, MD&A, 20F and technical memos relating to accounting issues. This is a terrific opportunity to be a part of the Booming Mining Industry. The role offers excellent compensation including bonus and stock options.
Qualifications:
A professional accounting designation (CA)
Minimum of five years of relevant industry or public practice experience with exposure to public company reporting (F/S, MD&A and 20F)
Thorough knowledge of CDN and US GAAP
Experience dealing with complex consolidations
Knowledge of CDN tax
Exposure to SOX or 52-109 compliance
Mining background an asset
Leadership abilities
Ability to mentor and develop junior staff
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced business environment
Knowledge of Spanish an asset
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Team oriented, strong work ethic and committed to the company's development
Excellent people skills to maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders and auditors.
