Supervising Geologist

Our Client requires a Supervising Geologist to develop and supervise exploration programs for the company’s projects in the Solomon Islands. Candidates with 10-12 years experience in mineral exploration and prior experience in Pacific Rim epithermal gold / porphyry systems will be highly regarded.
Reporting to the Exploration Manager, you must be field oriented and have hands on capabilities. Your duties and responsibilities will include:

• Supervision, mentoring and training of geologists and exploration teams
• Acquisition of data; management of the data in digital form; and the production of maps and sections at relevant stages of the exploration program
• Regular reporting to management and ensuring compliance with Quarterly Reporting obligations for the Prospecting Licences.
• Assisting the Exploration Manager in the preparation of capital and operating budgets and monitoring of expenditure.

To be considered for this position you should have:

• Tertiary qualifications in geology
• Experience in the management of drilling programs and contractors in challenging environments
• Computer literacy, including spreadsheets and word processing
• Experience in GIS and 3D resource modelling
• Experience in exploration targeting / programme design in epithermal / porphyry systems using structure, alteration, geochemistry, geology and geophysics
• Exposure to geophysical data sets (e.g. electrical, magnetic, radiometric, gravity and understanding of their exploration applications)

Salary is negotiable based on experience. The roster is 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off, FIFO from the point of hire.
