The client is a gold and mineral development company with significant land holdings in the Kyrgyz Republic in Central Asia. The company holds licenses for both gold and base metals covering over 4,800 sq km, with a strong focus on the highly prospective south-west.
The company is currently seeks to appoint a Senior Exploration Geologist to manage the staff and direct the company’s activities. As a member of this highly regarded team, the successful candidate will manage and explore a number of projects across the Kyrgyz Republic; identifying, evaluating and developing targets. This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably-qualified professional geologist to take up the challenge with a company that will provide flexibility and the opportunity to expand your career.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not be limited to:
Management of all aspects of the day to day exploration activities, including programme planning and execution;
Ensuring safe work practices are observed by all staff and contractors;
Interpretation of the exploration results and resource estimation;
Development of annual plans, work programmes and budgets; and
The successful candidate will ideally possess the following skills and experience:
Tertiary qualifications in geology;
5 - 10 years of relevant experience in gold exploration;
Experience in sediment hosted and Carlin style deposits will be highly regarded;
Computer literate with proficiency in the use of software packages such as Map Info and/or Micro mine would be advantageous;
A lateral thinker with effective communication skills and the ability to develop and mentor others;
Demonstrated ability in resource drilling procedures and logistical support requirements;
Proven track record in project management;
Sound planning, time management and analytical skills;
Cultural sensitivity – previous overseas experience well-regarded;
Regional experience advantageous; and
Russian language skills desirable but not required.
