BHP Billiton Shared Services Centres perform leveraged, transactional activities at central locations, allowing our diverse businesses around the world to benefit from cost and time efficiencies. The Kuala Lumpur centre will function predominantly as a transactional back-office facility for BHP Billiton’s global operations providing HR Payroll, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Card Services, Cash Accounting, Inter-company Accounting and Sundry Receivables services, running on SAP. The aim of this new centre is to be world class through offering the right people outstanding development opportunities.

THINK POSITION

We seek high performance individuals to join our dynamic team as an Accountant. Reporting to the Process Improvement Leader, you will provide efficient and accurate delivery of accounting/ financial services for the respective function.

This position may require the successful candidates to be based overseas for the initial 6 to 12 months of employment.

Core accountabilities will include:

* Timely and quality delivery of accounting/ financial services to the global customers
* Effectively question to fully understand a request and seek feedback on service provided
* Ensure all work is done right first time to the required service standard
* Ensure critical processes are identified, documented and monitored
* Give guidance, direction and support to less experienced people
* Regularly review work practices and identify problems or inefficiencies
* Question and challenge conventional methods or inefficient processes
* Identify causes of problems, evaluate alternative solutions and determine the most appropriate solution

THINK REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate should possess:

* A Degree in Finance/ Accounting or related disciplines, with at least 2 years’ of experience. Candidates with a Diploma or professional accounting qualifications with at least 3 years’ of relevant experience will also be considered
* Proven track record in providing efficient and quality accounting/ financial services in a high volume transactional environment
* Ability to resolve issues within accounting standards framework
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team
* Good interpersonal and customer service to build positive relationships with the internal customers globally
* Possesses a high level analytical skills and problem-solving ability
* Understanding of inter-related processes across Financial Services, Process Improvement Methodology and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements
* Working knowledge of Accounting Standards (IFRS) and EWRM Framework
* Ability to work effectively using SAP and Microsoft tools (Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint)
* Ability to travel where required
