The Newman Joint Venture (NJV) Mine operations all lie within a 32km radius of Newman and are essential contributors to the world class NJV Iron Ore Hub. The operations consisting of Mt Whaleback, Orebody 25 and the recently merged Orebody 18/Wheelarra operation, combine to produce +40 mtpa of iron ore toward the NJV product blend. Position Synopsis

An excellent opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and highly motivated professional to join the NJV planning team as the Senior Medium Term Mine Planning Engineer. You will be responsible for providing detailed mine plans, schedules, pit development and dump / stockpile designs including communication and implementation of the key milestones and approvals. Coordination with the key stakeholders will be essential as well as providing guidance and support to activities performed by the medium term mine planning group. The successful candidate will exhibit a commitment to working safely, considering HSEC through all facets of the planning cycle.

Reporting to the NJV Planning Superintendent, the Senior Medium Term Planning Engineer’s principal accountabilities will be:

• Medium term planning from 3 month to 5 year period for the NJV.

• Assist with the preparation of Mine operations annual operating budget.

• Ensure all pit and dump / stockpile designs follow sound economical and geotechnical principles.

• Optimise pit development and sequencing to increase ore recoveries.

• Use established systems to identify and comply with HSEC standards.

• Play an active role in identifying and participating in Business Improvement projects

• Relieve Planning Superintendent during times of absence

Skills and Experience

To be considered you will have a tertiary qualification in Mine Engineering or Surveying, together with reasonable post graduate experience in operations and mine planning. Initiative and practical problem-solving skills are integral to the success of the position. You must possess sound interpersonal skills and have the ability to work within a small team. The successful candidate will exhibit a strong commitment to working safely and a solid cost focus. Exposure to Vulcan, Xpac software would be well regarded.

We will offer an attractive remuneration package commensurate with your qualifications and experience.

Location

This position is being offered on either a residential basis in Newman or on a Fly In Fly Out roster from Perth.

Newman is a town of approximately eight thousand people. It has excellent sporting facilities that cater for a wide range of interests and age groups, a well-appointed shopping centre, and education services to senior level.

Full relocation and subsidised housing in Newman will be offered to the successful applicant.
