The Newman Joint Venture (NJV) Mine operations all lie within a 32km radius of Newman and are essential contributors to the world class NJV Iron Ore Hub. The operations consisting of Mt Whaleback, Orebody 25 and the recently merged Orebody 18/Wheelarra operation, combine to produce +40 mtpa of iron ore toward the NJV product blend. A unique opportunity exists for mining professionals to join in the development of the NJV Mines with production scheduled to expand in the near future. Position Synopsis
We seek motivated individuals to focus on mine planning from a three month to a 5 year timeframe. Your responsibilities will include providing detailed mine plans, schedules, pit development and dump designs while assisting with technical support for daily and weekly mining activities. In addition, you will be required to monitor the performance for the mining operations against plan and assist with implementation of necessary key milestones and approvals.
Your previous experience in mine planning will be critical in effectively managing and scheduling mining activities and completing the period plans out to the 5 year timeframe.
Initiative and practical problem-solving skills are integral to the success of the position. You must possess sound interpersonal skills and have the ability to work within a small team. The successful candidate will exhibit a commitment to working safely.
Skills and Experience
To be considered, you will have tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or Surveying complemented by experience in mining operations and or planning environments. Together with established analytical and report writing skills, you must exhibit a proven team-spirited approach with effective communication skills. A proven commitment to safety is essential. Exposure to Maptek’s Vulcan and Runge’s Xpac software would be well regarded.
Location
This position is being offered on either a residential basis in Newman or on a Fly In Fly Out roster from Perth.
Newman is a town of approximately eight thousand people. It has excellent sporting facilities that cater for a wide range of interests and age groups, a well-appointed shopping centre, and education services to senior level.
Full relocation and subsidised housing in Newman will be offered to the successful applicant.
