Mining is booming and BHP Billiton Iron Ore is in the thick of it. For some time we have been an industry leader in the supply of iron ore to the global steel industry, yet recent massive demand from our customers has resulted in unprecedented growth. To meet demand we are expanding our mines, expanding our rail and port capacity, and developing new, high value-in-use products to provide steel makers with competitive advantages. Located 180 kilometres north west of Newman, Yandi has excellent office and village amenities for its fly in fly out workforce.
Position Synopsis
Reporting to the Superintendent - Yandi, you will focus on the existing processing plant, site infrastructure and provide input for the new processing plant during detailed design. This includes crushing and screening, stacking, bucket wheel reclaiming and train loading, village, water and power. You will be involved in monitoring and reviewing the performance of the contractors and their compliance with the obligations of the mining contract.
This role assists the Superintendent with the on-going management of the operation using your knowledge of contracts, maintenance and operations. You will liaise closely with the rest of the team and assist with quality control and scheduling and specifically, controls the overview of the contractor management of company assets and continuous improvement of asset reliability.
Skills & Experience
To be considered, you will have operational experience with crushing and screening plants, confident communication skills, and an ability to work effectively in a small team environment.
Experience with stacker, bucket wheel reclaimers, and Citect are desirable. Iron ore blending experience will be an advantage. A qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or Metallurgy, is preferred, however candidates with equivalent experience are encouraged to apply.
This role would be suitable for a person who rises to a challenge and would assist in the development of planning and analysis skills and experience in contracts, maintenance systems and bulk materials handling.
