Worsley Alumina is the joint venture operation of BHP Billiton, Japan Alumina Associates and Sojitz Alumina. As a member of the world’s largest diversified resources company, Worsley manages a bauxite mine and alumina refinery in Western Australia’s South West and offers candidates an enviable choice of lifestyle, based in the state’s picturesque South West.
Worsley Alumina is seeking a creative individual with the skills and motivation required to become a successful member of the Community Relations team, based at the company’s Collie refinery. The key responsibilities of this challenging role involve employee public relations and internal communications. Other duties include the preparation of press releases, advertising materials, writing company reports, project management, events management, administration tasks, as well as support for community relations work in general.
Key requirements of this position are:
* The desire to become a valued member of a team environment;
* Highly developed interpersonal skills;
* Proven experience in a similar position
* Excellent communication skills, specifically written communication, with the successful candidate being able to demonstrate examples of press releases, memorandums, reports and/or bulletins.
* Able to identify opportunities for developing and implementing employee and community programs;
* Strong computer literacy in the Microsoft Office suite and in the use of the Internet;
* Excellent problem solving skills;
* A high level of initiative and drive;
* Demonstrated administrative and organisation skills;
* The motivation to support and implement the objectives of Worsley’s community relations strategy;
It is expected that the successful applicant will have had wide experience in mass communications, media, marketing and/or community relations. Relevant tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded. Experience in the mining industry is not essential.
