BHP Billiton produces copper, uranium, gold and silver from its Olympic Dam mining and processing operation located near Roxby Downs, South Australia. The operation is a long-life asset with a very significant mineral resource base - being the world’s fourth-largest known copper resource, the fourth-largest known gold resource and the largest known uranium deposit. The expansion project, currently in its Pre-Feasibility stage, aims to significantly increase production from the deposit in the safest and most efficient manner.

Position Synopsis
As Senior Reliability Engineer - Shovel/Drills you will be responsible for optimising the reliability and maintainability of the Olympic Dam Expansion Project’s (ODX) mining equipment. Through the application of reliability in design and quality practices you will increase Mean Time Between Failures and optimise Mean Time to Repair; provide support to the Mine Maintenance Development team; and develop effective maintenance strategies, through the application of appropriate combinations of predictive and proactive maintenance techniques in a quality framework.
Leading and developing a culture of Zero Harm you will conduct reliability and maintainability projects between original equipment manufacturers and the ODX team to deliver reliability goals. In addition, you will identify and implement consistent reliability and maintainability tools and methods for the ODX project and perform reliability studies to develop maintenance strategies, plans, schedules and spare part requirements.
Skills and Experience
Degree qualified in civil, mining, mechanical engineering or equivalent, you will have demonstrated experience in a reliability role within the mining, manufacturing, automotive or aircraft industries. Experience with computerised maintenance management systems (RCM, Condition monitoring, SAP), excellent computer skills, competence with the Microsoft Office Suite as well as external systems and interfacing solutions is a requirement. Experience in implementing or using quality management systems, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) will be an advantage, as will competence with statistical analysis and tools such as Minitab.
