BHP Billiton produces copper, uranium, gold and silver from its Olympic Dam mining and processing operation located near Roxby Downs, South Australia. The operation is a long-life asset with a very significant mineral resource base - being the world’s fourth-largest known copper resource, the fourth-largest known gold resource and the largest known uranium deposit. The expansion project, currently in its Pre-Feasibility stage, aims to significantly increase production from the deposit in the safest and most efficient manner.
Positions will be based in Adelaide, where you and your family can enjoy a relaxed and easygoing lifestyle. Position Synopsis
As Process Development Engineering Manager you will coordinate major, complex project technical plans and activities, including support to the Process Development team in governance, direction, procedures and guidelines relating to engineering. Directing contractor engineering and technical personnel you will provide guidance, and manage the design of the pilot plant, demonstration plant and commercial plant estimates of the emerging processes to meet project budget and schedule, production rates and operating costs projections.
Acting as the primary liaison with the contractor’s engineering team, you will manage their activities and deliverables; provide functional leadership; and ensure adherence to engineering standards, procedures and guidelines. In addition you will establish, authorize, review and update engineering standards, benchmarks, procedures and guidelines for the Process Development team. Leading a culture of Zero Harm you will work with the HSEC professionals to ensure HSEC Design and Management Standards are an integral part of engineering services and that these are clearly conveyed to the contractors.
Skills and Experience
Degree qualified in civil, mechanical, electrical or process engineering, you will have substantial engineering operations and management experience and have managed large multi-disciplinary projects from an Owner’s team perspective. You will have an understanding of engineering standards and requirements applicable to large capital grown expansion related to a mining or mineral processing operation, and have demonstrated experience in driving projects to a successful conclusion. Previous experience working in the mining industry or heavy civil construction industry is a requirement.
