Our client is a multinational corporation and one of the largest oilfield services companies in the Middle East with a presence in more than fourteen countries. As a result of the growth of their various operations they have acquired an extensive local and international property portfolio, which is now being developed by their new property development company which is tasked with the design, construction, delivery and management of the property assets. Projects include a major premium 5 star mixed use business park and hotel. Construction is scheduled to commence the first quarter of 2009. In addition to this development, our client is also planning a number of other major projects including several luxury resort destinations, residential and industrial facilities.

They are seeking to appoint a Head of Projects to manage the design and construction procurement process for existing future and properties and facilities.

Key responsibilities will include:

* Plans and coordinates the activities of the Project Managers, both pre and post contract, their multidisciplinary project team and external consultants;
* Ensures development of adequate strategies, logistics, planning and administration of the developments through the multidisciplinary team;
* Defines and develops project procedures, responsibility matrix and reporting systems;
* Prepare project status, staffing and programme reports to CEO and Board and make presentations as required;
* In conjunction with Project Managers, develops Project Management Plans for each individual projects incorporating both cost plans and timelines;
* In conjunction with CEO provides advice to multidisciplinary team in the:
o Procurement and management of consultants for planning and design, o Procurement and management of contractors during construction, o Draft and evaluation of tenders and contracts.

To be considered for this role, ideally you will possess:

* Graduate / postgraduate degree in architecture, engineering or construction management from an internationally recognized university, or equivalent;
* Minimum 10 years consultancy or site experience on major building or civil works;
* Professional experience in the Gulf Region;
* Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects from inception to completion;
* Technical and administrative experience of engineering/construction industry practices;
* Communication skills in English, Arabic (Preferred) – Both written and spoken.

This job involves a considerable amount of liaison with client representatives, authorities and government agencies, as well as working on both local and international projects that may require frequent travelling.
