Permanent skilled level position in the Mining sector in Roodepoort in South Africa (Gauteng).
• Basic electrical, electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics and mechanics theories.
• Applicable codes and regulations.
• Industrial electricity and safety practices, precautions and procedures.
• Troubleshooting methods and procedures.
• Electrical components and wiring configurations used in industrial systems.
• Testing procedures used to detect problems, including use of typical testing instruments.
• Safety precautions and procedures pertaining to the work, particularly relating to the operation of large pumps and motors and high electrical voltages.
• VFD, PLC, SCADA and DCS troubleshooting, repair and programming.
• Safety practices and procedures including high and low voltage, lockout/tagout and confined space entry.
Matric
N4 Industrial Electronics
Work Experience 3-5 years within Instrumentation in a mining environment is preferred
Individual should have a valid driving license, should be will to travel to support various different sites, and should be willing to work in underground operations
Should be willing to work extended hours, after hours standby and rotational shifts
Field Integration aims to fully integrate security, access control, PLC and SCADA systems with the IT network, providing a scalable solution that provides transparency throughout all the production and analysis systems.
Data signals produced by mining and monitoring equipment underground and on surface can and has been recorded in the past, and in turn has been displayed in a control room in a series of independent screens. Due to the vast amount of systems and processes that need to monitored, it would be hugely beneficial to integrate most or all of these signals into a central management point, where control rooms and system managers can monitor and action on alerts in good time, without the confusion that can be associated with traditional control rooms.
Early warning systems and remote monitoring can save lives, and integrating all the different systems into as few platforms as possible assists the company in increasing productivity and preventing accidents.
Personnel tracking, security and human resource control systems have always been segregated in the past, each requiring a separate communications platform. Field Integration aims to allow all of these technologies to operate over a single, cost effective, robust and fault tolerant network, thus reducing the maintenance required, financial outlay and skillsets for the management of these networks.
Typical skills of different Field Integration personnel include Instrumentation, IT, Networks, Security and Electronic Engineering.
