They are currently seeking a Geo-technical Engineer for their Rock Mechanics Team. You will be responsible for ensuring the mine development and production activities and active mine areas are maintained to ensure an acceptable level of risk from geotechnical hazards by coordinating all daily and long-term geotechnical requirements for his section.
Reporting to the Superintendent, your duties will include:
The integration of rock mechanics design into the mine planning process
Use of empirical and numerical modelling techniques to assist in the detail design of stopes and mine infrastructure.
Utilising the current rock mechanics design tools
Focusing on continuous improvement for the department and the business unit.
This involves considerable interaction with operations and planning staff in design, blasting practices and major ground reinforcement design.
Secondary to this design role is assisting the operations in detailed decisions on ground support in new and old areas under rehabilitation.
The position operates in an environment that focuses on safe, cost-effective production, operational, technical and managerial excellence.
