Plutonic Gold Mine is located approximately 1000km north-east of Perth. We currently produce 150 000 ounces each year from our underground operations.

We seek a Senior Production Engineer who will be responsible for short term planning and scheduling to optimise the extraction of ore to enable the business to meet its budgeted targets in terms of production and cost. This position will have 4 Production Engineers reporting to it.

Position Overview:
• Develop, maintain and improve safe mining production systems
• Develop the role specific knowledge of the Production Engineers
• Prepare short term production and development schedules
• Liaise with the Planning Engineers to provide data and input to medium term planning
• Liaise with Geotechnical Engineers to ensure optimal stope sequence and pillar extraction
• Approve drill and blast designs and activities
• Undertake stope performance assessments for each stope and back analyse to ensure an optimal standard of support is maintained.
• Ensure stope designs maximise economic extraction of geological stope shapes and that selected methods are achievable given available equipment and manpower resources.
• Complete economic assessment on stoping blocks to ensure financial viability, inclusive of associated development and infrastructure.
• Reduce stope dilution through improved development practices, stope design and drill and blast methods.

You will require the following attributes to be successful in this role:
• Tertiary Qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• WA First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency or the experience to obtain
• Underground production and planning experience in a mechanised hard-rock underground mine
• Mining technology and heavy production equipment experience
• Air leg, long hole open stope, room & pillar mining methods
• Ventilation
• Backfilling systems – preferably paste
• Geotechnical and backfill engineering
• Experience with mine design software, preferably Vulcan
• Good skills in spreadsheet and presentation applications, word processing and database applications.
• Able to diagnose problems and potential problems.
• Able to think outside the square and come up with an alternative.
• Manages performance of team members promptly and fairly.

This position is fly in/fly out from Perth on an 8 days on 6 days off roster. Excellent on-site accommodation is provided.
