Laboratory Assistant

Lawlers, Granny Smith and Plutonic Gold Mines and is seeking motivated Laboratiry assistants on Casual contracts. Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, you will be responsible for carrying out sample preparation and testing, using testing equipment and procedures as directed by the Laboratory Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:
Carry out sample preparation, testing and recording according to the Laboratory Operations Manual
Carry out cleaning and housekeeping of laboratory equipment and areas
Ensure all work is carried out safely and to a high standard
Select and use sampling equipment and conditions to preserve sample integrity during collection and storage.
Operate laboratory testing equipment.
Prepare sub-samples to ensure they are representative of the submitted sample.
Carry out the defined tasks according to each type of sample and analytical determination.
Interpret and /or calculate results and record.
Report invalid testing results to Laboratory Supervisor.
Identify stock discrepancies and maintain stocks at prescribed levels

Requirements:
Demonstrated application of safe working procedures and inspection techniques.
Experience in sample preparation and testing preferred
Data entry skills
Ability to communicate effectively across all levels
Ability to work unsupervised.
Able to work as part of a team and foster team building.
Work with attention to detail.
Knowledge of laboratory equipment, safety and testing procedures would an asset
