Supporting these complex systems and cutting edge technology requires specialized and professional people who can make a difference. We are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Software Engineer II - Autonomous Haulage Systems in our world headquarters in Tucson, Arizona.
In this role, you will work on development, design, coding, unit testing, and integration testing for various products, with exposure to product requirements and configuration management. The project involves the use of state-of-the-art technologies to extend our Autonomous Haulage Systems product line. The products are complex and challenging real-time, distributed systems. You will be introduced to Modular’s software development process, documentation and quality controls. This role requires working in a multicultural team environment with exposure to development processes taking place internationally.
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
* Minimum 5 years software development experience
* Strong knowledge of Java standard api’s: Network (required), Concurrency (required), Swing (plus), Jmx (plus)
* Strong knowledge of 2D spatial algorithms, checksum calculation and bitwise operations
* Strong knowledge of defect tracking tools: Mantis, Bugzilla, etc.
* Knowledge of resource constrained devices, embedded data acquisition systems development in Java
(required) and other languages (plus)
* Knowledge of real-time distributed application development
* Knowledge of relational database management systems: SQL (required), ORM (required), MySql replication (plus)
* Knowledge of debugging, profiling and code optimization techniques: Java garbage collector knowledge (plus)
* Knowledge of build management tools: Maven2 (required), ant (plus) Makefiles (plus)
* Knowledge of static code analyzers: PMD, Checkstyle, FindBugs
* Knowledge of testing methodologies
* Knowledge of Eclipse IDE
* Knowledge of best patterns and practices and common industry standards
* Knowledge of software revision control systems: CVS, Perforce
* Understanding of communication standards: RS-232 (required), Ethernet (required) and CAN (plus
* Understanding of development methodologies, including RUP and agile
* Comfortable working with Linux (x86 platforms)
* Good technical and design documentation writing skills, including UML
* Desire to learn and expand your areas of expertise
* Valid US work authorization is an absolute must
