We have an immediate opportunity for a Senior Underground Mining Engineer to join a mid-tier mining company. The site operates a number of underground mines and expects to bring further mines into production in the near future. With strong production performance and healthy cash position, they provide a solid base for progression towards an Underground Manager position.
The role will report to the Underground Manager and will assume responsibility for all the short-term production scheduling and management of the underground contractor. You will assume supervisory responsibilities for a small technical team and will assist with some aspects of the medium-long term mine planning function. A strong understanding of ventilation, drill & blast, back-fill and various mining methods (including air-legging) will be a key benefit in meeting the demands of this position.
To be successful with this autonomous position, it is essential that you display significant expertise within underground production environments. You will have completed your underground time and will have ideally obtained your First Class Ticket (not essential). Some previous experience with complex, narrow-vein style deposits will be a distinct advantage.
