Situated near Muswellbrook in the picturesque Upper Hunter Valley, the Mt Arthur Coal mine is an open cut thermal coal operation that is currently expanding to produce 20 million tonnes annually.
POSITION SYNOPSIS
We now have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer focussing on a wide range of improvement reliability and capital projects within the Coal Handling and Preperation Plant. If you are an experienced project engineer whom thrives in an autonomous working environment, is passionate about improving the way we carry out maintenance, and enjoys a wide range of challenges; then this position may be ideally suited to your future career progression. Working within the CHPP maintenance team you will report to the CHPP Maintenance Superintendent and be responsible for Mechanical Engineer in Charge, mechanical planning, project engineering, reliability engineering and technical support. Your direct reports will include two mechanical planners, a Mechanical Engineer, and consultant engineers as required.
Your key duties will include:
* Coordinating and implementing global replication projects.
* Controlling the Maintenance Department capital budget.
* Coordinated Continuous Improvement (CI) projects identified by the reliability program.
* Developing and controlling the mechanical maintenance budget.
* Developing and appraising project specifications and tender submissions.
* Resolving and implementing innovative cost effective solutions to maintenance, infrastructure and safety problems.
* Work group technical support.
* Work management through the planning group.
* Contract supervision
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
To be considered for this role you will be a degree qualified Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of six years experience within the mining or heavy industry. You will have led or been involved with a wide range of capital and operational projects, be driven and self motivated, have good communication skills and a high level of computer literacy. Project leader, GSAP, and Statuatory experience will be highly regarded.
