Maintenance Planner - Mobile and Plant

Barrick Africa, Tulawaka mine site is currently searching for a Maintenance & Reliability Planner. The sucessful person will report to the Maintenance General Foreman, Underground & Infrastructure.

PURPOSE: To monitor and record the flow of maintenance work from the Underground and Infrastructure areas and other internal customers by identifying, prioritising, categorizing, planning and scheduling maintenance work to ensure optimum plant and equipment availability in accordance with established maintenance, plant and equipment procedures. This is to include the collection and entry of operational and down time data for each piece of equipment in order to provide management with required maintenance and operational information.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

• Complete assigned work in a timely manner with minimum supervision and to an internationally accepted standard.
• Demonstrated commitment to work to all Barrick’s polices and procedures including the maintenance planning, scheduling and work flow procedures.
• Enters daily records of equipment availability and utilisation, Tyre tracking, Drill consumable tracking and other required information on a daily basis into the approved database.
• Enter new equipment data records into Pronto and update as required.
• Enter, maintain, and update maintenance schedules in Pronto for the underground and infrastructure assets and run the schedules weekly to produce scheduled work orders.
• Raise Work orders for planned work. (Work with Priorities 3,4,5)
• Increases equipment availability and reliability by minimising equipment breakdowns / unplanned work and preparing and maintaining accurate plans and schedules.
• Ensures Parts, Equipment, Scaffolds, Cranes, and other required resources are available and if appropriate at the work site for work planned for the following week.
• Improves work efficiency by coordinating the various trade and production activities to optimise resources, minimise production loses and increase equipment availability / reliability.
• Maintains technical records and the Technical Library for allocated equipment.
• Identifies changing needs in regard to stock holding of spare parts and liaises with stores on inventory control. Establishes parts lists and maintains them for all known maintenance activities.
• Prepares and updates at least quarterly, a five year major maintenance plan in a format acceptable to management.
• Provides maintenance and technical support to the maintenance and production groups by the use of standard jobs and equipment information.
• Reports statistics from computer-based information such as the Maintenance Measures (KPIs) and monthly maintenance budget and also forecasts any major expenses for coming months.
• Assists the maintenance Foreperson in preparing the annual budget for maintenance labour, maintenance materials, purchases, repairs, hire and operating supplies (maintenance).
• Provides ongoing training to area personnel and less experienced Planners in the Planning & Scheduling, Equipment Register, Work Orders and Stores issuing modules within Pronto
• The main emphasis of the job is the planning and scheduling of maintenance work to improve the productivity of tradesmen and increase equipment availability and efficiency.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Trade qualifications in an engineering related field with accompanying certificates and Extensive computer literacy.
Trainer The Trainer or similar qualification would be highly regarded.

Experience:

Minimum of ten years experience in maintenance of plant equipment at a practical level, specifically in underground mobile equipment.
Experience in training in other developing countries will be highly regarded.

Skills / Attributes:

Extensive computer literacy preferably in the use of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Able to read, understand and reference manuals.
Have a good understanding of inventory and purchasing procedures.
Resilience and resourcefulness
