Barrick operates the wholly owned Lawlers Gold Mine located in the North Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia, approximately 35kms west of Leinster. The Lawlers Gold Mine produces 120,000 oz of gold from 840,000 tonnes of ore each year. Ore is sourced from two underground operations – New Holland and Fairyland.
Currently the Fairyland operation is shifting from its initial exploration and trial mining phase through to a producing mine. Early results from the first phase of underground resource drilling indicate at least two years of production with a robust mine grade. A second phase of drilling is expected to expand the resource base and increase the existing mine life.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated Project Manager responsible for the safe and productive operation of this new mine. This position allows a large degree of autonomy in the operational and planning aspects, while being supported by an experienced and committed team of professional, technical and mining staff.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Mining Manager, the Project Manager will have the following responsibilities:
• Promote the development of a safe working culture
• Fulfil statutory duties of Underground Manager
• Supervise and lead the underground mining department
• Aid in the development of underground mine plans, schedules and forecasts.
• Identify project work and manage feasibility studies as required.
• Compile periodic reports including forecasts, annual budgets and reserve statements.
Requirements:
• West Australian First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate
• Mining Engineering Qualification
• Substantial mining experience essential, predominantly underground
• Proven track record in safety, production, project management and team building
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• FMI qualifications and experience with Vulcan will be beneficial.
Barrick’s Gold Mine operations are fly in/fly out from Perth on 8 days on/6 days off roster. On-site accommodation, including all messing facilities, is provided. Recreational activities include internet café, Foxtel television, swimming pool, tennis courts and gymnasium.
