Position Overview:
Operating on a 16 days on, 12 days off roster commuting from Cairns, you will work as part of a highly trained, multicultural team on this exciting international project. The Porgera Joint Venture is based in the Highlands of Enga Province in Papua New Guinea and offers a unique and challenging work environment. At an elevation in excess of 2100 meters and surrounded by limestone buttes the Porgera Valley has a temperate climate all year round with an annual rainfall in excess of 3.6 meters.
The opportunity exists for you to relocate to Cairns and enjoy a relaxed lifestyle in a modern and dynamic city offering excellent educational facilities up to university level. Alternatively and subject to conditions, the company will subsidise on-travel airfares paid to commute to and from Cairns for each work roster.
ELECTRICAL FOREMAN
The Position:
Reporting directly to the General Foreman, the Electrical Foreman is responsible for ensuring the electrical team including contractors deliver a seamless service to mining operations within the Power Generation Services Department. The role offers significant career opportunity as it requires the incumbent to develop a team which will offer high quality work standards together with excellent customer service.
Major responsibilities include Supervising and controlling the workflow of Tradespersons, Apprentices, Servicemen and Contractors on site. You must have the ability to motivate and mould a team to achieve desired outputs is an essential competency for this role, as is a strong customer service focus and demonstrated ability to drive change and continuous improvement.
You must be able to demonstrate a strong desire to be apart of a team that is committed to safety, development of its national work force, setting and meeting production targets and strong cost control and financial acumen.
The Person:
You must hold an Electrical Trade Certificate and Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training including several years Supervisory experience at a high level preferably within the mining sector.
You will also need several years of demonstrated success as an effective and supportive leader with proven ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness through effective communication (written/spoken and presentation) skills across all levels.
This challenging role requires you to engage with all people associated with the PJV Operations and to understand, learn from and share cultural differences. It also has the responsibility of overseeing the provision of training and coaching to National and Local employees as part of the company’s Training and Localisation Plan.
It is essential that you have the capability and desire to transfer skills and knowledge to a national workforce.
