Location: Australia Within the Yilgarn Operations Barrick operates four wholly owned Gold Mines in the North Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia producing approx. 500,000-600,000 oz of gold each year.
Position Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity for a Business Improvement Superintendent to join our Yilgarn team. You will be responsible for leading a culture of Business Improvement through leading the development of efficient and effective mine site wide management systems; mapping and analysing the value drivers and capability for the business; planning, executing and managing risk mitigation and improvement initiatives to deliver business value; as well as the implementation of Business Improvement strategic objectives and tactics as set out by the corporate, regional and Yilgarn BI team.
The principal duties include:
• Significant Input to the site leadership team.
• Safety Leadership.
• Gather, evaluate and record systems and process opportunities for improvement. Analyse and evaluate opportunities within prioritisation framework (i.e. Validate priority initiatives using the Value Driver tree).
• Link BI projects to business strategy.
• Coordinate and participate in annual operations reviews (ORTs), budgeting and the setting of technical limits (using capability mapping) and improvement priorities
• Develop implementation plans for BI activities, such as projects, ideas and MOS (Management Operating System) implementation.
• Facilitate and/or manage BI projects for the site, including system implementation.
• Facilitate Kaizen events utilising Lean tools.
• Ensure the site maintains a focus on 5S quality across all work areas.
• Ensure critical initiatives ($/oz & Business Critical Initiatives (BCIs)) are tracked and reported as part of the regional MOS through the Operations Committee.
• Conduct site/departmental MOS reviews to ensure they support business framework.
• Coordinat the Idea Management System across the site.
• Maintain files and reference documents related to BI efforts and contribute information for BI knowledge sharing initiatives and processes.
• Assist with the development and preparation of regular reporting and cost benefit analysis for BI opportunities.
• Track BI project outcomes in collaboration with individual project champions and make results highly visible to all employees.
• Coach and support BI representatives and project leaders across Yilgarn One.
• Work with leaders to educate workgroups in BI processes to assist the development of an operations-wide BI culture.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will have Tertiary Qualifications in a Mining or Engineering-related discipline or equivalent or You may have a strong trade background with apprpriate experience alongside a passion to positively improve the business. You will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and ability to promote and influence change; and will have strong attention to detail and the desire to see initiatives through to completion. Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise at all levels; good coaching and mentoring skills; and well developed report writing skills are essential.
