Responsibilities include: The Senior Production Geologist is responsible for assisting the Grade Control section of the Mine Geology Department in all functions of the mine grade control programs. Initially these will include the RC drill planning, RC drill rig production supervision, Geological logging and PIMA data collection, assay dispatch (incorporating QAQC samples), drilling survey requirements (collar and downhole), with all data received entered into the database and checked ready for interpretation. This role includes the supervision of geologist’s and technicians work practices to ensure compliance with production requirements, site safety and environmental regulations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Supervise all aspects of the RC Grade Control drilling from planning, preparation, drilling, sample dispatch, data collection and storage for interpretation.
• Incorporate the logging data with surface mapping and reserve model data into models required to support the Grade Control section of mine production.
• Assist with the setting up of the Grade Control software requirements to incorporate all geological information available for ore control interpretations.
• Assist the Senior Mine Geologists in reviewing drilling results for incorporation into the mapping and reserve models.
• Incorporation of the mapping data models into the Grade Control ore block definitions to define Geological constraints to the ore block boundaries.
• Work in conjunction with and giving support to the Mine Geology and Evaluation sections of the Department.
• Assist the Senior Mine Geologists in setting up the field marking up ore block procedures for mine operations.
• Overview work practices within the section to ensure an accident free and safe work site with the objective of no lost time injuries during the project. Report on any safety non-compliance.
• Develop and monitor appropriate training programs for the sections personnel to develop trainee’s experience.

Education
Incumbent will have a B Science in Geology or a degree in Geological Engineering and experience necessary to fulfill the project requirements of this role.
Experience
5+ years experience in open pit grade control, (RC Grade Control based operations of a similar size to the Pueblo Viejo Operation, 18,000 – 24,000 tpd mill feed rate).
Previous experience with Vulcan and Dispatch software preferred.
Skills & Abilities
• Proven track record of achieving a high level of performance in all areas of this role on similar mining projects.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a safety culture on construction sites to achieve an incident & injury free working environment.
• Experience should demonstrate ability to train and develop others to follow and maintain processes and systems established.
• Strong interpersonal oral and communication skills, able to speak, read, and write in English.
• Previous expatriate experience preferred.
• Bilingual English / Spanish preferred.
