JOB PURPOSE & SCOPE

Performs a variety of clerical accounting duties as assigned. Includes preparing or completing documents and forms, assisting in reconciling various accounts, collecting and sorting data, preparing input information to computer and maintaining necessary files and records.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Receives a variety of accounting documents (invoices, vouchers, receipts, cost data, payroll information, etc). Makes necessary registration/ calculations and passes for further action.

• Assists in reconciling various accounts and ledgers, as directed, and prepares simple variance reports in prescribed format.

• Checks documents for proper authority and commitment approvals following established procedures.

• Collects and sorts various input data, checks or assigns correct accounts coding and prepares computer input documents.

• Complies, balances, summarizes and posts accounting financial and statistical data to various records and other documents.

• Audits and edits source documents such as expense claims, payroll listings, materials requisitions, invoices, purchase orders, payment advices, and cost data, etc.

• Checks Materials Demands against Authority/ Budget, job number and maintains material commitment records for reporting purposes.

• Prepares computer input to update and edits computerized records of fixed assets and examines output to verify correct processing and distribution as required.

• Maintains files for source documentation containing all relevant information of fixed assets and well costs, etc.

• Research, compile and analyze data related to a variety of special projects.

• Assist in completing monthly, quarterly and annual financial closings and required reports.

• Processes for accounting action invoices/debit notes received from various departments for supplies and services.

• Respond to inquiries and requests for information from employees.

• Understands the Company Health, Safety and Environment Policy, and how it relates to his job. Performs his work in a safe and efficient manner.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Completion of Secondary (12 years) education followed by 2 years full time training leading to diploma in Business Administration or Accountancy.

• Good knowledge of PC applications, particularly Microsoft Office and other graphic and presentation software.

• 4 years experience in general accounting preferably in the oil industry.

• Good knowledge of English.
