Location: Saudi Arabia POSITION DESCRIPTION: The individual will focus on strengthening and enhancing the company's crisis communications response capabilities. Key areas of focus include training of crisis communications responders, protocol and procedure development, developing and staging drills and exercises, and application of best practices. The role is primarily behind the scenes, rather than as a frontline crisis responder.
SELECTION CRITERIA: University degree, preferably in journalism, English or public relations. Nine (9) years relevant experience or as editor or writer. Good command of both written and spoken English, particularly as related to the requirements of journalism; good command of terminology used in fields such as petroleum technology and engineering, and geology. Ability to type and use a word processor highly desirable. Thorough knowledge of company policy and operations. Clear perception of how to handle confidential matters. Adequate background in cultures, traditions and beliefs of the individuals with whom he will be dealing. Because of high visibility and frequent contact with members of the media, must be highly attuned to Aramco, governmental and cultural sensitivities. While not an official Aramco spokesman, incumbent is expected to impart authoritative information about the company. Must be highly sensitive to the information policies of the Government and Aramco, display a high degree of tact at all times, and be personable and have a mature outlook. Experience in crisis communications activities, preferably with work in the area of training and crisis communications advisory services. Energy industries backgrounds a plus.
COMMENTS: Public Relations Department is responsible for enhancing and protecting the company image through interaction with the public, industry leaders, opinion leaders, its customers and the media.
