Position Synopsis
The Business Controller effectively manages the finance function for the Petroleum Trading & Marketing Unit with particular responsibility for business control, management forecasting and reporting and risk management.
Core Accountabilities
* Manage and develop the applicable finance team and its staff;
* Supervise, maintain and of control management and statutory accounting functions to ensure accurate and timely completion of required activities for reporting, forecasting and budgeting;
* Ensure appropriate internal control systems and procedures to safeguard marketing assets and liabilities under CSG control and to ensure compliance with group policies;
* Monitor relevant direct and indirect cost results to ensure correct divisional cost allocations and provide advice to TMU Managers on variance analysis;
* Manage, implement and monitor all risk management activities to ensure adherence to the Group Risk policy;
* Manage, control and minimise working capital requirements for the TMU;
* Prepare Forecast/budget reports to meet deadline for SAM submissions;
* Prepare and distribute external statistical reports as required;
* Prepare financial reporting to Group (Hyperion Reporting) to meet monthly deadline;
* Ensure appropriate financial checks and reconciliations are performed;
* Ensure adherence of all finance activities to external and internal rules, regulations, policies and legislation;
* Ensure data standardisation and integrity throughout the sales databases;
* Assist with projects as required, act as back up for other team members within finance as required.
Qualifications
* Bachelors’ and/or Masters’ degree in Accounting/ Commerce/ Business and membership of a recognised accounting body
* 8-10 years experience in accounting/finance, of which at least the last 2 years in a managerial role
* Computer literate, SAP experience highly recommended
