POSITION SYNOPSIS

The Financial Accountant is accountable for provision of full sales administrative and business control functions for Petroleum’s Trading & Marketing Unit based in Houston.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Maintain statutory financial accounts in accordance with accounting standards;
* Perform reconciliations of P&L accounts;
* Assist with analysis of monthly results via profitability analysis;
* Coordinate maintenance of operational sales plan in conjunction with Marketing Manager to ensure that the plan reflects the latest actual and future positions;
* Assist in the preparation of Trading & Marketing management reporting and ad hoc projects;
* Maximise the utilisation o business systems functionality to generate statutory and management reports and to facilitate the analysis of results.
* Ensure appropriate financial checks and reconciliations are performed;
* Prepare and administer cost budget for Trading & Marketing Business Unit activities;
* Prepare and distribute external statistical reports as required;
* Coordinate preparation of revenue budgets, forecasts and plans with finance team and Marketing Manager;
* Ensure free flow of all relevant information to members of the regional Marketing Business Unit in a prompt and timely manner;
* Control data integrity throughout the sales and purchasing databases;
* Ensure Group risk management programs are effectively managed and controlled;
* Maintain business partner/customer/vendor master data;
* Liaise with the appropriate personnel to ensure the Trading & Marketing is in compliance with all tax and regulatory requirements;

QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelors / Masters’ degree in accounting or economics or equivalent
* CPA highly desirable
* A minimum of 5 years experience in finance, preferably in accounting
* A minimum of 2 years industry related experience
* Ability to plan and implement cost control and business control measures
* Computer literate, FI/CO SAP experience highly recommended
