Financial Accountant - Gas Marketing

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Maintain statutory financial accounts in accordance with accounting standards;

• Assist with analysis of monthly results via profitability analysis;

• Coordinate maintenance of operational sales plan in conjunction with Marketing Manager to ensure that the plan reflects the latest actual and future positions;

• Assist in the preparation of Gas Marketing management reporting and ad hoc projects;

• Maximise the utilisation of business systems functionality to generate statutory and management reports and to facilitate the analysis of results.

• Ensure appropriate financial checks and reconciliations are performed;

• Prepare and administer cost budget for Gas Marketing Business Unit activities;

• Prepare and distribute external statistical reports as required;

• Coordinate preparation of revenue budgets, forecasts and plans with finance team and Marketing Manager;

• Ensure free flow of all relevant information to members of the regional Marketing Business Unit in a prompt and timely manner;

• Control data integrity throughout the sales and purchasing databases;

• Ensure Group risk management programs are effectively managed and controlled;

• Liaise with the appropriate personnel to ensure Gas Marketing is in compliance with all tax and regulatory requirements;

• Liaise with Internal Audit as appropriate;

• Act as back up for other team members within the Finance Department when required.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Financial Accountant is accountable for provision of full sales administrative and business control functions for Petroleum’s Gas Marketing unit based in Houston.
AUTHORITY & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

• Coordinator Finance

• Finance team

• Marketing team

• Distribution team
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Qualification

• Bachelors / Masters’ degree in accounting or economics or equivalent

Experience & Technical Competencies

• CPA highly desirable

• A minimum of 5 years experience in finance, preferably in accounting

• A minimum of 2 years industry related experience

• Ability to plan and implement cost control and business control measures

• Computer literate, FI/CO SAP experience highly recommended

Languages

• Fluent English, both verbal and written
