Accountant – Customer Support (3 roles)

POSITION SYNOPSIS

Reporting to the Senior Accountant - Customer Support, you will work both closely with the senior and as part of a team of accountants in the management of the period end close activities for a range of customers supported from Financial Services Houston. The main focus of the role will be working closely with management, staff and customers to resolve business issues and provide expertise and guidance on period end close and journal portal processes.

In addition, there will be opportunities to identify, initiate and coordinate process improvement opportunities within the group and become involved in projects as they arise.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development;
* Work as part of a team of professional accountants to assist in the management of the period end close process for multiple customers;
* Assist in running specified system tasks and processes as part of period end close and resolve any associated issues;
* Provide end user support for the journal portal;
* Develop good working relationships with Customers and other Financial Service Centers;
* Prepare account reconciliations;
* Participate in system UAT testing and other projects as they arise;
* Initiate and participate in process improvement activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelors degree in accounting or finance
* 2 - 5 years of experience
* Experience working in a period end close role would be advantageous
* Strong accounting, financial and reporting experience essential
* Microsoft office products with advance Excel
* Experience in Financial Accounting systems/software (SAP and/or SEM - BCS desirable)
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills required
* Conscientious, detail oriented and self-motivating
* Customer focused individual with initiative and drive to accomplish
