Oil and Gas Measurement Design Engineer Houston, TX, USA
Indefinite Contract with a Major Oil and Gas client in Downtown Houston.
Successful candidate will work with different internal teams to design cost effective measurement facilities. Similar goal will be to continue to improve measurement accuracy to achieve the lowest minimum possible level for 'Lost and Unaccounted For' (LAUE). Candidate shall assist in the maintenance of company measurement standards, provide field inspection services on a limited basis including the recertification of existing facilities, witness meter proving and calibrations and lead various operational initiatives as needed. The Design Engineer will become involved with estimate and drawing reviews, specify equipment, review and comment on new connection agreements, teaching sampling procedures, assisting the Lab with chromatograph issues, and assisting the Drafting Coordinator to produce accurate drawing sets as well as-built drawings. Candidate shall also assist the Gas Quality team with the review of analyzer data and provide response to customer issues as needed.
Requirements
Must have experience with measurement practices and gas metering documents to include industry codes and standards applicable to natural gas measurement, i.e., AGA, API and GPA, as well as the regulations for natural gas pipelines found in CFR DOT Part 192.
Must be familiar with gas metering and regulating equipment, chromatographs and samplers.
Some practical knowledge of data networks and telecommunications including bandwidth utilization to support measurement and SCADA is a plus.
Exceptional interpersonal skills are a must for this position as Design Engineer facilities technical communications between Commercial, Field Area Operations, Region Operations and Engineering, Project Management, Drafting, Supply Chain, Communications, Information Technology and gas Control as well as outside vendors and installation contractors.
Must be able to organize, schedule, and complete activities on multiple projects with varying degrees of complexities concurrently.
Logical analytical skills are required and must be able to maintain objectively and make recommendations based on results.
Must be able to understand problems and issues from multiple perspectives and make sound recommendations.
Design Engineer will be responsible for documenting the design process and will incorporate a feedback process.
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of software applications is required.
Education/Experience:
Requires a minimum of five to seven (5 to 7) years experience in natural gas measurement and knowledge of field measurement practices.
Field experience is preferred.
Typically, (10-15%) overnight travel.
