MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: BS Geophysics, Mathematics, Geology, or Physics. Experience: 8 years. Experience with PSTM is essential - PSDM and AVO processing experience would be a plus. Heavy emphasis on static corrections (e.g. model-based and refraction datum statics plus refraction and reflection residual static). Current working knowledge of UNIX. Additional experience with seismic acquisition, and/or interpretation is beneficial. Direct exposure to the Exploration & Production work process would be useful. Must be a team player and should possess strong organization skills and good communication and interpersonal skills.
The Seismic Processing geophysicist will work as part of a Team and will be responsible for processing seismic data into final products which can be used by the Exploration and Production seismic interpreters. Candidates with previous processing experience in areas with severe statics and noise problems such as sand dunes, marshlands, foothills and mountains are very attractive. Experience should also include processing of data from various field recording systems and sources. Experience with refraction statics, interactive velocity analysis and stratigraphic processing is required. 3D processing experience is highly desirable.
Process and analyze proprietary seismic data using CogniSeis DISCO/FOCUS software running on PC Clusters, Mainframes, and UNIX workstations. Plan and execute all 2D and 3D processing projects from field tapes to final product. Primary focus is on land processing, however, there are also marine and transition zone projects. Investigate and solve geophysical problems using creative solutions. Analyze seismic velocity, bandwidth and other basic data attributes to determine optimum processing sequences and parameters. Participate in Acquisition Review Teams with interpreters and data acquisition specialists to define optimal acquisition parameters. Assist with the maintenance of geophysical databases and provide support for Exploration Users. Assist with training of new personnel. Candidate should be a driven, self-motivated individual and a creative problem solver. Candidate must adhere to the highest standards in regards to quality of product.
