Leader in the exploration and production industry with domestic and international operations is seeking to hire an OPERATIONS GEOLOGIST to be based in their Houston, TX office.

The Operations Geologist will work within a multi-disciplined reservoir management team of geoscientists and engineers involved in the assessment and development of operated and non-operated Piceance Basin properties in northwestern Colorado. Act as lead Operations Geologist in the successful implementation of the development and appraisal drilling program, typically 60 operated wells per year. Duties include compilation of drilling prognoses, coordination with Drilling Operations, Land and Regulatory in planning, scheduling and monitoring the drill-ready process, providing TD calls and other guidance to Drilling Team on critical well decisions. supporting the well AFE and budgeting process, planning and logistics coordination of logging and coring operations including on-site supervision and monitoring the drilling progress of all wells.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Extensive knowledge of Landmark/Geographix workstation tools for mapping and cross section studies. Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office.
• Economic evaluation and risk assessment skills; proficiency with PEEP software
• Development Geologist experience
• Use of geostatistics and 3D rock property modeling to develop static geologic models
• Ability to upscale geologic models for use in reservoir simulation
• Experience with property acquisition evaluations
• Proven ability to effectively lead the implementation of a development drilling program
• Solid knowledge of directional drilling, LWD, open-hole logging and coring operations
• Petrophysics experience and/or knowledge
• Ability to make technically and economically sound decisions under pressure
• Ability to take lead roles in team environments when called upon
• Solid interpersonal skills with proven ability to work with technical and operations personnel
• Solid organizational and logistical planning skills
• Solid verbal and written communications skills
• Time management skills to personally plan work and execute large studies – meeting goals within time constraints.
• Effective in team environments, seeking cooperative and consensus solutions
• Ability to work in a diverse, multi-national force
REQUIREMENTS:
• B.S. in Geology, preferably a MS in Geology or Geological Engineering
• Minimum 5 years experience as a Geologist in the oil and gas industry, with at least 2 years as an Operations Geologist
• Experience with Piceance Basin or unconventional resource development
• Willingness to make routine trips to field location
• Must be legally authorized to work full time in the U.S.
