ENVIRONMENT ENGINEER

JOB PURPOSE & SCOPE

Provides technical advice on environmental compliance issues. Implements and maintains HSE compliance system and criteria for all company location for proactive measure with company Health, Safety & Environment management system and legislation. Maintains contacts with local, regional, and international environmental organizations. Ensures compliance of data for proper analysis and corrective actions. Audits and communicates company compliance system to all locations with ISO 14001 / relevant environmental laws and regulations. (Work covers all company sites including offshore, Das Head Office Complex and Mussafah).

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

a. Auditing / Work Control:-
(i) Conducts internal audit of Company Environmental management system to ensure compliance with company standards and ISO 14001.
(ii) Participates in external ISO 14001 audits as Company representative.
(iii) Follows up non conformance arising from internal and external audits and prepares non conformance status reports.
(iv) Coordinates with all company locations and auditing contractors to ensure compliance practice.
(v) Measure HSE system compliances against established company standards.
(vi) Provides numerical measures to quantity data in HSE compliance.
(viii) Participates in the preparation of Quarterly / annual company HSE reports.
(ix) Participates and carries out Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA’s) for small new projects and participates in the technical evaluation of the consultants EIA’s for larger projects.
(x) Coordinates and maintains waster inventories and process advice on all waste disposal matters.
(xi) Participates in reviewing Environmental Impact Assessment of major modification or projets at the design stage to identify and assess environmental risks and document / follows up decision / action taken.

b. HSE Regulations / ISO 14001:-
(i) Contributes in the development of company HSE standards codes of practices and procedures to comply with legislation of best industry practices.
(ii) Ensures EMS compliance with local authority laws, regulations, ISO 14001 and assess on the impact of new development / laws on company operations.
(iii) Keeps abreast with relevant development in legislation standards, techniques, tools and communicates the same to all company locations.

c. Oil Spill:-
(i) Maintains and updates company oil contingency plan.
(ii) Provides technical advice on company oil spill preparedness plan maintaining company HSE high standard capability and reputation.
(iii) Identifies sampling and analyses requirement to avoid pollution such as: the process of water discharge to the sea / environment.
(iv) Provides necessary feed back analysis and corrective / remedial recommendations.

d. Advisory Roles:-
(i) Advises on latest development in the field of environmental, HSE protection equipment and new regulations / standards.
(ii) Provides technical advice on compliance methods and procedures.
(iii) Participates in the selection of HSE monitoring equipment in coordination with the Supervisor.
(iv) Coordinates with ADNOC for the development of corporate procedure and guidelines.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

a. B.Sc. in Scientific / Engineering discipline preferably Environmental or Chemical.

b. 6 years experience as petrochemical industry including 3 years in environmental field.

c. Very good knowledge of English.
