Safety Engineer

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: BA/BS degree, plus seven years of experience in oil operations or maintenance field.

OR

Completion of English (ERW), Math (MI), at ITC, or equivalent in terms of other school systems.

Experience: Fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible experience (including supervisory experience) in oil operations and plant maintenance. Experience in Loss Prevention activities would be highly desirable. Minimum of 10 years refinery or related industrial experience. National or International certification in Heath, Safety and Environmental Protection is an asset. NEBOSH or equivalent certifications are of high value

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support team members in their assigned duties in Coordinating Implementation of the corporate Safety Management System [SMS] elements in the department.

- Familiarize all employees with their SMS roles and responsibilities.

- Manage the recommendation tracking database and associated stewardship to be able to demonstrate HSE performance measurement.

- Provide guidance and leadership to rotational engineers assigned to his area.

- Develop methods to measure employees safety performance.

- Annually measure, audit and evaluate the effectiveness of safety leadership in the department.

- Provide guidance to all Refinery personnel regarding the priority of HSE matters in daily activities.

- Coordinate development of department safety goals and objectives.

- Coordinate safety reporting documentation.
