We currently seek a high caliber Supervising Civil Structural Engineer to work on a contract basis for 6 months. Based in Pasadena, CA, you will be working for one of the world’s leading engineering, procurement & construction companies to the Oil, Gas & Petrochemicals sector.
Job Description:
• Supervises a group of five or more Engineers and design personnel, usually in one discipline, by directing technical engineering assignments and coordinating project staffing assignments.
• Education and experience over several years must be sufficient in order for the incumbent to serve as a Supervising Engineer on a large project or several smaller projects.
• Supervises the work of a major engineering unit or project.
• Determines methods and solutions for complex problems, and selects the most efficient and economical manner in meeting objectives.
• Makes frequent interdisciplinary contacts with the Company and with clients or other agencies involving negotiations, compromised, or important decisions.
• Work is assigned In terms of broad objectives. Outlines methods of approach, critical areas, and priorities for the more junior engineers.
• Perform complex structural analysis and design of structures for nuclear facilities. Perform structural design using advanced earthquake engineering and structural dynamics.
Job Requirements:
• B. S. degree in Civil Engineering with a major in Structural Engineering from an accredited university/college or equivalent.
• Should have a Civil and preferred Structural Engineering license in the State of California with 12 to 15 years of experience directly related to nuclear facilities projects.
• Eight of the ten years must have been spent in responsible engineering assignments involving independent decisions and design planning, designers and draftsmen.
• Ability to proficiently perform in accordance with the job description for a Supervising Engineer and is supplemented by the following: Must have the ability to lead team efforts, get the job done, and foster interest and enthusiasm on the project.
• Should have a strong background in computer and CAD technology and experience in earthquake engineering and dynamic analysis.
• Proficient knowledge in structural analysis, including the Finite Element methods.
• Proficient in the use of structural engineering programs and MATHCAD. Knowledge in soil structure is desirable.
