SENIOR FIXED EQUIPMENT RELIABILITY ENGINEER USA
$85,000/120,000 Large profitable SW LA refinery owned by multiplant refiner seeks a Senior Engineer. • Supervise and mentor Area Fixed Equipment Reliability Engineers. • Provide technical support to maintenance & operations to improve fixed equipment availability and reduce maintenance costs. • Lead/Facilitate Root Cause Failure Analysis. • Utilize advanced reliability techniques (FMEA, Wiebull analysis) and act as facilitator in developing solutions to long standing reliability issues. • Perform life cycle cost analysis on design modification and metallurgy upgrade options to provide recommendations to management. • Provide technical input to strategies for maintenance, repair, and replacement specifications. • Identify and implement improvement ideas to improve operational performance, increase availability, and reduce costs. • Provide technical input to capital projects and support to develop project options. • Identify and resolve process unit run limiters and critical reliability issues. • Track and analyze performance trends on fixed equipment and piping systems (MTBF, MTBO, # of leaks, process debit and mechanical cost). • Develop and track fixed equipment replacement plan for assigned operating areas. • Evaluate maintenance cost for fixed equipment and make recommendations for cost reductions. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering plus 10-15 years Refinery/Petrochemical process plant engineering experience. • Technical experience in pressure vessel calculations/re-rates, pipe stress analysis, fitness for service calculations, and life cycle cost analysis. • Strong working knowledge of ASME Section VIII Div. 1, ASME B31.3 piping code, API 510, API 570. • Knowledge of API 650, API 620, API 653, and API 579 a plus. • Experience with leading root cause failure analysis. • General knowledge of refinery processes/metallurgy and their associated corrosion and environmental cracking phenomena. • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills required with prior experience as a technical supervisor preferred. • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. • Presentation skills as well as good verbal/written communications skills required.
