QualificationsHigh School diploma.
SAIT - Exploration Information Technology Diploma and/or SAIT - Petroleum Technology Diploma - Geology interest.
Office Administration Diploma is an asset but not required.
Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Ability to follow specific processes and instructions.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team; must be willing to assist other areas of the department when needed.
Effective communication skills - verbal, listening and written.
Excellent computer skills including the ability to operate MS WordTM, MS ExcelTM and MS PowerPoint at an intermediate level. Training will be provided for other software programs including Accumap, GeoScout, Geographix, and Wind2 (in-house timesheet/project program).
ResponsibilitiesPrepare project information for Geologists: Generate Geoscout and Geographix projects. Print logs, gather all pertinent information and publications needed for project.
Load data and produce digital maps for Geologists.
Create cross-sections and correlate stratigraphic horizons.
Complete small net pay and structure mapping projects.
Complete well log interpretation of stratigraphic sequences.
Digitize log data.
Digitize Isopach maps and generate volumetrics for reservoirs.
Assist project leads in preparation of project reports as required. This includes information pick up from the EUB, photocopying, printing paper copies from microfiche or cd, and assembling copies of projects.
Assist other staff with filing and archiving projects. This includes sorting and filing information in appropriate project folders, creating new project folders, ensuring existing files are complete as well as scanning them and placing them in the appropriate directory on the network. Maintaining Geological Database.
Provide back up as required to the Senior Technologist and Senior Geologists.
This position will be cross-trained with other engineering departments in order to provide industry wide exposure.
