Sharyland Utilities is a privately-owned, Texas-based “wires” only transmission and distribution utility committed to providing customer service, safe and reliable electric delivery, and increased investment in the electric grid of Texas. We are fully regulated by the Public Utility commission of Texas. We are seeking an Engineering Project Manager for the following role opportunity in Dallas, Texas.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Utilize project management best practices: plan, execute and complete transmission line and substation construction projects according to defined timelines and within budget and work order estimates.
• Assist with resource requirements, coordinate and oversee project team members efforts, and work with and supervise third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan.
• Assist in the development of the transmission capital, operation and maintenance budgets and work plan.
• Define the project’s scope and objectives and oversee construction, permitting, compliance, cost, safety and quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide engineering and technical support to the construction teams while ensuring the reliable, safe and efficient operation of the transmission system. This function will be provided by external or internal resources managed or directed by the engineer manager.
• Provide oversight and project management of major and minor transmission projects.
• Coordinate overall transmission capital, operation and maintenance work plans.
• Provide technical and engineering support to construction crews, contractors and outside consultants.
• Manage project timelines and costs to ensure successful completion of the project.
• Develop and implement project management best practices throughout the organization.
• Insure all aspects of the projects are documented and completed in accordance with Company policies and with all regulations and laws.
• Work closely with other areas in Engineering including transmission, substation, planning, and system protection engineering staff. Provide ongoing project status updates with all parties throughout design and construction.
• Work on site as needed to support the construction effort, and be an on-site resource.
• Provide supervision of employees and contractors as assigned.
Specific Requirements:
• Possess extensive knowledge of transmission and substation engineering, design and operations
• 10+ years of experience in the areas of engineering, design, operation, construction, and project management.
• Bachelors in Engineering or applicable field of study
• Managerial skills
