Gas Operations Supervisor
REQUIRED: Knowledge of and experience in the operation, maintenance and construction of high pressure natural gas transmission facilities.
Supervise employees and contractors engaged in the safe, reliable and efficient operation and maintenance of natural gas facilities and related equipment. Monitor and inspect job sites, and databases to ensure company procedures are followed and that compliance is maintained relative to all applicable local, state and federal regulatory requirements; Maintain a proactive planning and scheduling process to effectively utilize manpower and complete tasks within the time schedules established; Develop, implement and monitor budgets for O&M and Capital Projects. In addition, you will communicate across varied disciplines to complete tasks and resolve issues with landowners, regulatory personnel, partnership companies, contractors and company employees; Train and coach direct reports to enhance performance and perform all required tasks following safe work procedures; Train employees on operational methods and practices; ensure that all employees satisfy and meet all job responsibilities and obligations, including operator qualification (OQ/DOT) compliance. You will also administer and adhere to company policies and the union contract.
In order to succeed in this position you will need Specific experience with these type of facilities and their related ancillary equipment; natural gas transmission pipelines, compressor stations, measurement & regulation stations. You will need an understanding and experience with the implementation of company policies/procedures and compliance with applicable regulations pertinent to the position (i.e. DOT, OSHA, FERC, environmental, etc.). You should also have the ability to effectively supervise a work group through the utilization of appropriate planning, organizing and prioritization skills as well as the ability to communicate across a broad range of disciplines to develop rapport, synergies and effective relationships. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of logical problem analysis to facilitate the development of solutions and options to resolve problems, proficiency in the compilation and evaluation of records, reports and drawings in written and database systems (i.e.
engineering schematics, inspection databases, budget reports, financial accounting systems)as well as the ability to effectively utilize a personal computer and the associated programs, systems and databases is also needed.
Prefer prior supervisory experience in a related operations or technical field.
This posiition may be subject to dust, grease, oil, energized wires, loud noise, operating machinery, extreme weather conditions, and/or adverse environmental conditions 70 - 100% of the time. You may be on-call 24 hours per day (shared with others in area). You must reside within reasonable commuting distance of Schenectady, NY. This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug testing. You must possess a valid driver’s license and operate a company vehicle. Will require occasional out of town overnight travel. On call duties rotated with others in the area.
