Highly successful and rapidly growing independent midstream crude oil transportation and marketing company is seeking to hire a Senior Leak Detection and Simulations Engineer for their corporate office in Houston, TX.This client is actively interviewing and is seeking that candidate who wants to make a difference and achieve the highest level of excellence based on their abilities.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties of the Leak Detection and Simulations Engineer are generally described as reviewing the Company’s current pipeline leak detection capabilities and the further development, implementation and monitoring of a Leak Detection program for Company assets. The position will also be responsible for reviewing the Company’s pipeline simulation capabilities and expanding as required to meet the training needs of Operations Control. The daily tasks consist of:
• Reviewing pipeline systems to identify and establish leak detection criteria
• Working with Operations Control and Pipeline Integrity to determine critical assets and prioritization
• Configure and implement leak detection and simulation models
• Review field equipment and provide recommendation for additional devices. Preparing cost estimates, budgets and providing oversight of installation
• Daily monitoring and turning of leak detection models
• Communicate with Operations Control on alarm management and response
• Review Leak Detection and Simulation technologies and stay current on industry trends and regulations
• The development of technologies to improve leak detection sensitivity or response
• Provide Controller and Operator training
• Perform additional projects as required at Supervisors request
• Travel to field locations will be required, but is estimated to be less 25% of time.
• Department members will have a heavy workload with unplanned overtime and changes in work priorities, multiple projects with short turnaround time are common.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
• BS in Engineering required. Other degrees may be considered if enhanced by appropriate work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of pipeline operating experience, preferably with an emphasis on advanced pipeline hydraulics and leak detection.
• Strong communication skills and ability to function well on teams as well as demonstrate leadership in implementing systems across a broad organization.
• Ability to operate advanced computer based programs, such as SimSuite or other modeling software is required.
• Familiarity with PLC’s, SCADA and other control systems required
