As part of EnCana’s long term commitment to the Province of Nova Scotia, and in keeping with our commitments outlined in the Offshore Strategic Energy Agreement (OSEA), we are looking for a Pipeline - Subsea Engineer to join the Deep Panuke project development team in Halifax, Nova Scotia under our Developing Skills Initiative.
The Developing Skills Initiative will help you get the skills and experience that are in demand in Nova Scotia’s offshore oil and gas industry. During this exciting development phase of the Deep Panuke offshore natural gas project you will gain valuable exposure to many aspects of the project as the focus transitions from engineering to procurement, fabrication and pre-commissioning, into transportation, offshore integration, commissioning and production start-up.
The Pipeline Engineer works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure that the Deep Panuke gas export pipeline is properly constructed, installed, tested and ready for operations at time of First Gas.
The Subsea Engineer works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure that the Deep Panuke subsea production system is properly constructed, installed, tested and ready for operations at time of First Gas.
The successful candidate will work as a Pipeline Engineer until approximately mid-2009, after which they will transfer to the Subsea Engineer role for the remainder of the contract. During the term, the successful candidate will work both with EnCana and the principal contractors engaged for the subsea scope.
Duties and Responsibilities become familiar with the design and construction of a subsea pipeline including survey, lay barge operations, trenching and shore crossing become familiar with the subsea trees and controls hardware through participation in integration testing, installation and commissioning assist with the development of pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures through to de-watering and drying of pipeline, de-watering of flowlines and power up of electrical equipment while seconded to contractor organizations, participate in the development of procedures for and the execution of offshore construction tasks which could include pipelay, trenching and general construction using divers and remotely operated vehicles assist with the survey operations including vessel positioning systems and post lay surveys collate subsea equipment documentation and prepare inspection and maintenance procedures assist in other work as required by the Engineering department
Qualifications must be legally entitled to work in Canada new or recent graduate with a degree in structural, civil or naval architecture must be eligible for membership with Association of Engineers and Geophysicists Nova Scotia a willingness to work on-site and intermittently offshore is considered to be a core requirement strong written and verbal communication skills proficient in MS Office
