Description Our client is a major UK-based operator. They have a requirement for a Senior Drilling Engineer to be based in their office near London on a contract basis. The role is non operational at this stage and will focus on project control and preparations for operations commencing at the end of 2009. Specific responsibilities will include: - Identification of conceptual well designs in conjunction with subsurface team - Preparation of Development Wells Overview document, incorporating knowledge capture from relevant offsets - Maintaining the wells risk registers and action trackers - Preparation of development well capital and operating cost estimates and benchmarking of same - Interface with subsurface, subsea and facilities teams to ensure consistent design basis optimised for project. - Support to Future Developments Programme initiatives on well design, related contracting strategy, and technology plan - Interface with partners on drilling and completion issues. - Import lessons learnt and best practice.

Engineering or Petroleum-related degree

A minimum of 10 years' relevant drilling engineering experience is required, with experience in the front-end development phase of a project. Experience of Deep Water programmes is essential. Experience with preparation of multi-well development cost estimates is preferred, together with working understanding of semi-sub deepwater operations with sand control completions. Knowledge of near salt and sub-salt well planning would be beneficial. Experience of using Drilling Engineering packages such as DIMS, Compass, Wellcat and Stresscheck required. Experience in preparation of development well casing designs and selection of casing seats required. Sound PC literacy skills required plus experience with probabilistic analysis packages for multi-well cost estimating. In addition to the required technical experience, candidates should have the following skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, team-working & networking skills. Strong technical and planning ability. Sound decision making ability.
