THE ROLE
CCL has been requested by an international oil and gas operating company to provide a Site Civil Supervisor to be based in Southern Algeria on a one-year (renewable) contract basis, working on a rotation of 28 / 28. Very good standard of camp accommodation, local transportation and meals are provided by client. CCL provides Medical Insurance, including Medivac. Good daily rate paid 30 days per rotation and free of local taxes.
THE PERSON
Ideal candidate should have at least 10 years experience working with contractor or client organizations engaged in civil / structural projects. Provide site supervision for an ongoing contract installing earthwork platforms / roads etc. Following award of the contract, site team will be expanded with responsibility for the technical compliance of civil and structural construction works associated with the installation of hydrocarbon processing facilities, gathering networks and export pipelines. Initially reporting to the Construction Manager, duties include: Supervision of a small team civil supervisors / inspectors overseeing the technical and quality requirements specified in the contract. Liaison with Contractor (conducting technical meetings, issuing site instructions, reviewing contractor work methods and contractor supplied engineering proposals etc.). Maintenance of contractual documentation records. Provision of regular progress reports. Liaison with the Construction Manager / Contracts personnel with respect to commercial issues. Field checking of engineering proposals provided by the Project Management Team (PMT). Provision of technical input to PMT engineering proposals where necessary. Previous overseas experience of working in harsh, remote environments.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Ideal candidate will be well educated and have a BS degree in Civil or Structural Engineer. Chartered Engineer preferred. Able to work with minimum supervision. Ability to manage contractor operations and field inspection personnel and to provide technical input to engineering proposals. Ability to handle multiple tasks, strong communication and presentation skills including fluent written and spoken English. Knowledge of French and / or Arabic beneficial. Cultural sensitivity in host country.
