Our Client:
Our client is an integrated oil and gas company with operations within Canada and internationally. The company currently holds a substantial land base of oil sands leases in Northern Alberta which will result in full field development producing over 200,000 bbl/d. The Oil sands Pilot is coming on stream in 2010 at 20,000 bbl/d with plans for further expansion, and the current 10,000 bbl/d SAGD facility is on schedule. The second Oil sands Project is in the planning phase for developing a 40,000 bbl/d commercial plant. The objective of this position is to provide reservoir engineering and simulation support to the development of the company¡¦s oil sands assets by using SAGD, solvent coinjection and/or other novel thermal recovery technologies. While this position will report directly to Manager, Reservoir Studies, he/she may also be seconded to other Divisions or Departments on a short-term basis.
Reporting Structure:
This position will report to the Manager, Reservoir Studies.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
„h Contribute to the success of our projects by working effectively in a team environment with Geology, Geophysics and other Engineering disciplines.
„h Conduct numerical modeling, subsurface studies and exploitation planning.
„h Generate production forecasts using reservoir simulation, production analysis and other reservoir engineering techniques.
„h Optimize well pattern layouts, development sequences and well placement.
„h Formulate fit for purpose reservoir surveillance plans to collect reservoir data.
„h Analyze subsurface and surface field data to obtain key reservoir/well performance parameters.
„h Perform regional studies (including analyzing competitor public data) to improve understanding of the SAGD process.
„h Generate risked OBIP, production profiles, recoverable volumes for reservoir management. Participate in the reserve booking process including the evaluation, documentation, presentation and the reporting steps.
„h Liaison with external partners and regulatory agencies. Support regulatory processes including technical justifications to the regulator and offsetting operators.
„h Formulate and implement laboratory data acquisition programs including costing and vendor selection.
„h As an asset team member, actively participate in revising development plans and capital cost forecasts as required.
„h Provide input to economic evaluations, new land acquisition and joint venture opportunities.
„h Assist in mentoring less experienced Engineers, EITs and intern students.
Qualifications
„h You must be legally eligible to work in Canada
„h Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
„h APEGGA membership (P.Eng. designation) is required.
„h 15+ years experience in reservoir engineering and related experience working within an integrated team including Geology, Geophysics and other Engineering disciplines.
„h Experience with STARS, Exotherm or Eclipse Thermal (Qflow) simulation software is required.
„h Exposure to the SAGD development process is required.
„h Reservoir operation experience in thermal recovery of bitumen is preferred.
„h Exposure to steam solvent co-injection and/or Gas-Over-Bitumen is preferred.
„h The candidate must exhibit a pragmatic approach and strong subsurface technical management skills. It will be necessary for the candidate on occasion to operate under varying timelines and generate recommendations often using poor quality, conflicting, and/or non-existent data.
„h The candidate must be a self-starter and be able to handle multiple projects at multiple phases, concurrently.
Compensation/Remuneration:
Compensation will include competitive base salary, bonus, long term incentive, pension and savings plan, and excellent benefits package.
