Location: Saudi Arabia POSITION DESCRIPTION: Successful candidate will be expected to: Initiate and direct major safety studies, projects and reports. Develop safety control methods, procedures, programs and mechanisms to eliminate or reduce incidents. Provide services to Department Managers to identify and appraise loss potential conditions and practices for the assigned function. Incumbent shall develop loss control methods, procedures and programs to eliminate causative factors associated with specific problems, or where it is not possible to eliminate the hazard, provide the engineering necessary to devise mechanisms or procedures to reduce the degree of the hazard. Area of responsibility includes planned or proposed facilities, operations and projects. Normally the incumbent is expected to provide staff assistance in any of the recognized fields of loss prevention to any division. Provide work direction to Safety Officers/Engineers at division levels, and as assigned review the work of these Officers/Engineers and approves work prior to transmittal to the relevant divisions.
SELECTION CRITERIA: Bachelor of Science Degree in Safety/Fire Engineering or one of the Science or Engineering fields and a total of 7 years' experience related to the oil or petrochemical industries in the field of loss prevention engineering. This experience should include areas such as: accident prevention, traffic control, fire prevention, health physics, hazardous materials, qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, process safety or accident investigation. Proven ability to communicate in technical English with science and engineering peers as well as Division Heads, Department Heads and Admin Area Heads. Incumbent must be able to produce clear and concise oral and written reports in English.
COMMENTS: Internal Contacts: Principal work contacts are with Department-level Management to exchange information or provide advice related to specific studies, projects or programs and as necessary with other company Departments such as Loss Prevention, Government Relations, Medical and Law to exchange information, or with employees while surveying facilities or to make recommendations. External Contacts: As necessary with Saudi Arab Government officials as a Technical Representative of Aramco concerning safety problems.
