Location: France Our Client is a major minerals company operating globally. The Mining Business Unit operations cover the first phase of the energy cycle and consist of four main activities: mineral exploration (discovering new ore deposits), mining (extraction of energy minerals), ore processing and site reclamation following mining activities. The company operates a number of mines and mineral process plants in Francophone West Africa.
Our Client has a requirement for a PROCESS PRODUCT ENGINEER/ URANIUM CHEMISTRY reporting to the Ore Processing Project Manager, the project engineer manages the entirety of his subject from the study period and the engineering works (process design, project feasibility and financial calculation) to the completion of project works (addition of a unit or an operating process).
Initially based in Paris, the engineer will then follow the development and construction of his project on site in Francophone West Africa in conjunction with the Project Manager.
>> As a project owner, the project engineer is responsible for:
• The studies, implementation and commissioning of a process;
• Project management in the processes/uranium chemistry field: lead-times, costs, quality, risks and relations with the prime contractor.
>>Main tasks:
> In the study and design phase:
• Analyzing the studies and choice of the most efficient technological solutions to successfully carry out the project;
• Monitoring the facility proposals (made by the Mines Business Unit technical engineers) intended for the engineering department, such as recommendations for equipment installation, mechanization, automation or security and environmental protection;
• Making recommendations to the prime contractor, for processes, workshop design and equipment installation;
• Participating in the creation of specifications for the project;
• Coordinating works for the creation of engineering documentation, assisting the design engineer, analyzing the experience feedback and receiving and approving the engineering documentation within the context of the project.
>In the construction phase:
• Monitoring construction and assembly works, approving and validating the technical decisions concerning project modifications in the construction phase;
• Participating in construction and assembly work acceptance commission;
• Contributing to preparation of the plant for commissioning, creating the schedule for start-up works and adjustment and the production obtaining (ramp-up) schedule;
• Establishing technical standards documentation (regulations, user guides and others);
• Defining the personnel and the skills required for project commissioning, in conjunction with human resources.
> The project engineer:
• Reports to the ore processing project manager;
• Works and communicates with the project owner, businesses cross-functional team (mechanical engineer, electrical engineer, instrumentation engineer, piping engineer, civil engineer, etc.);
• Coordinates the shared work with the various departments of the Mines business unit and the engineering centres.
> Profile:
• You hold an engineering degree, probably in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering;
• Excellent knowledge of mining processes, particularly uranium chemistry and, preferably, professional experience in the sector;
• Knowledge of engineering study and preparation methods;
• Experience in project management (schedules, lead-times, costs, quality);
• Good organizational skills;
• The ability to innovate to implement structures and new processes;
• Good teamwork and partnership skills and an excellent communicator;
• Open-mindedness towards different cultures and, preferably, previous professional experience in Africa.
