Basic Function and Scope:
The main responsibilities will be the coordination of technical activities on assigned projects including supervision of fabricators and other sub-contractors, project planning and scheduling and the coordination and implementation of assigned engineering work. He will ensure compliance with applicable codes and accepted engineering practices and the effective communication and coordination between all disciplines and all other project participants.
Candidates are expected to have sufficient technical knowledge and awareness of details to be able to recognize when technical issues are developing in the various disciplines
Tasks and Duties:
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
Performs leads or otherwise participates in the coordination of front end engineering and detailed design work for projects done in-house, by consultants or by contractors. Ensures or arranges for review of drawings for modifications, alterations or installations to ensure conformance to the company’s specifications and standards.
Responsible for planning, scheduling, implementation and coordination of technical and contract administration aspects of (smaller) projects;
Ensures implementation of the company project procedures for the safe and efficient execution of larger scale engineering and construction projects.
Coordinates with operations the recording, tracking and resolution of all project warranty items.
Reviews and endorses progress and final payment requests from consultants and contractors, ensuring that work has been completed in accordance with contractual terms and conditions. Discusses and resolves any disputes with consultants and contractors regarding payments and claims.
Evaluates and develops solutions to problems, which arise in the execution of projects. Ensures that irregularities, which may develop are promptly investigated and resolved in line with company requirements.
Preparation of monthly project status reports and change orders
Communicating effectively with Client and Sub-contractors;
Responsible for preparation of input to project specific budgets and for ensuring that work scopes and schedules are maintained within the limits of funding approvals and budgets.
Directs or participates in the preparation of, and executes job-specific tender packages and contracts for approved projects. Participates in bid reviews and contract negotiations and ensures proper execution of the project.
Assists construction supervisors in the administration of executing contracts, including assessment of progress payments and participation in contractor’s claims review and negotiations.
Participates in the development and maintenance of standard scope of work documents for engineering and construction contract documents for engineering design, local construction contracts, EPC projects and projects using the engineering work order system.
Prepares Facilities Modification Proposals, Minor Modification Proposals and Set point Modification Proposals or other general proposals.
Participates in the HAZOP review process as required.
Responsible for the support of Company Safety, Environment and Quality policies and programs, and carrying out specific duties and responsibilities related to his job as spelled out in management system documentation, policies, procedures, local documentation, Management System Manual, Safety Manual and other related documents.
RequirementsMinimum Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent.
10 years experience in engineering, project engineering and/or construction management involving grassroots new developments and modifications to existing major process facilities. Experience should include roles with Oil & Gas operating facilities, engineering consultants and construction organizations.
Ability to demonstrate capacity to work well in team situations;
Able to plan, monitor, and coordinate work activities
A high level of proficiency in written and spoken English.
Computer literacy, involving the use of professional office applications and some technical applications.
