Job Description:
1. Operates, monitors, inspects and controls all plant parameters for four gas turbines and all auxiliaries.
2. Provides startup or shutdown services for gas turbines, Participates in emergency shutdown of plant equipment and selects and operates alternative equipment as needed.
3. Inspects and adjusts the water, oil, temperature and pressure levels of plant equipment.
4. Performs chemical and water analyses to meet plant specifications.
5. Monitors and inspects mechanical equipment.
6. Performs general maintenance such as changing valves, gauges, bulbs, indicators, etc. Advises management of operational maintenance needed.
7. Maintains awareness of safe working conditions and practices safe work habits in all activities. Cautions others, as necessary, in working in a safe manner.
8. Operates other facilities and/or assists maintenance crew, as requested, in times of heavy workload, major overhauls or emergency conditions.
9. Performs housekeeping activities as necessary.
10. Provides on-the-job training and coaching, as requested.
11. Remains aware of inventory of chemicals and lubricants needed for plant operation. Advises appropriate individual when additional supplies are needed.
12. Acts as Control Room Operator in maintaining daily environmental health and safety standards. Maintain the Lockout-Tagout procedure; coordinate the safe release of plant equipment for maintenance activities.
13. Other duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirements:
1. High school graduate, trade school, military service or technical training schools. Additional professional training and/or boiler operator licenses preferred. Must have and maintain required local licenses.
2. Three to five years operations experience in power generating facilities. Additional experience with machinery repair and control systems preferred.
3. Knowledge of the types of equipment installed, derived through a combination of hands-on experience and formal training performed in the manufacturer’s factory and/or at the job-site.
4. Demonstrate skills in the use of tools, test equipment and calibration appliances.
5. Strong mechanical aptitude, basic understanding of chemistry, physics, electricity and mathematics. Must be able to respond calmly and think clearly in emergency situations.
6. Must be able to visually read and respond to computer-generated data, instrumentation, gauges, readouts and variations in color.
7. Must have manual dexterity required to operate keyboards, pushbuttons, dials, valves and mechanical-actuating devices.
8. Experience utilizing a Distributive Control System in the operation of a power generating facility.
9. Must have a valid driver’s license.
