Location: Saudi Arabia POSITION DESCRIPTION: Candidate must be able to initiate and lead technical service and applied research proposals that primarily utilize geochemical tools to resolve issues of operational and intermediate to long-term strategic significance. Successful candidate must be able to interpret all types of geochemical data including, but not limited to Rock-Eval, gas chromatography, stable isotopes, biomarkers, petroleum composition, basin modeling, vitrinite and other thermal maturity techniques. Will be required to synthesize interpretations from varied geochemical data independently and as a part of interdisciplinary teams. The candidate is expected to train young professionals and technicians. The candidate should have excellent interpretation, report writing, and communication skills and the ability to consult with geologists and engineers in exploration and production. Candidate must have the following capabilities: Development of analytical methods and applications to petroleum geochemistry, Some knowledge of burial history/thermal maturity modeling of sedimentary basins, Broad knowledge of petroleum geochemistry related to source rock evaluation, reservoir fingerprinting, oil-oil and oil-source rock correlation based on stable isotopes, chromatography, and biomarkers, Some knowledge of disciplines that impinge on geochemistry (e.g., petrophysics, geology, geophysics, reservoir engineering, well logging, etc.)
SELECTION CRITERIA: Minimum MS Organic Geochemistry or related field in chemistry or geology with current experience in geochemistry (preferred Ph.D). 10 years or more professional experience related to petroleum exploration and production geochemistry. Must have excellent analytical capabilities in the laboratory with one or more of the following instruments: gas chromatograph, GC-mass spectroscopy, isotope ratio mass spectrometer, and Rock-Eval or Thermal Extraction Pyrolysis and experience in dealing with data from all these instruments. Will have excellent interpretive skills and writing abilities, which will have been demonstrated by papers published in refereed scientific journals and presentations at scientific conferences. Must have the ability to conduct scientific applied research.
